THE FINAL CLIMACK

ImageThe final installment of Exploded Drawing’s weekly showcase, Climack, is this Thursday, May 17th. Free show, teriffic line-up, Tamale Molly at arms length, alcohol, girls with self-esteem, some sort of lazers, and interpretive dance by the original cast of Boy Meets World . Okay, so the last one isn’t true.

//GGG @ SXSW!!

Today is Monday, the official start of SXSW madness. If you have a Facebook, I’m sure someone in your live feed has hinted at the coming massacre of sounds this week, when all of Austin becomes a big ol’ music orgy. Well add one more voice to the choir, because I had to get my hands into some cookie jars, as they say. Tomorrow, Tuesday 13, Exploded Drawing is taking a boat to the middle of the lake with two different stages full of mind numbing awesomeness. Heavy hitters like Eliot Lipp, Computer Jay, Jonwayne, and Jeremiah Jae are coming to join the Exploded Drawing collective, and theres going to be Barbecue from Billy’s as well as an open bar sponsored by Juiceland and Dulce Vita. If you aren’t sold yet, you probably should stay home this week altogether.

I also got the chance to do a poster for a wednesday showcase featuring Machinedrum and Salva, not to mention local favorite and extremely talented gentleman performer Corduroi, performing at Hole in the Wall. This is an unofficial showcase as well, so get there early and get ready to shake your shit like Marty McFly.

THIS. Thursday is our second showcase, hosted at the Volstead on East 6th. We’ve been planning this sucker out for a long time, and it is all going to culminate in the most intense Exploded Drawing to date. An amazing line up culminating in a special extended set from Dudley Perkins and Georgia Anne Muldrow will definitely be the highlight of the night. We’ll be doing some live screen printing out on the patio the whole night, featuring brand new exclusive designs you won’t be able to find anywhere else ever again. Definitely one of the best ways to spend your SXSW this year.

//[BEAT]EN SENSELESS

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/860271580/beaten-senseless/widget/video.html

I am very excited to announce that in the next couple weeks, I will be donating my ‘particular set of skills’ in developing the branding and identity for an upcoming documentary focusing on the developing Austin scene titled [Beat]en Senseless. Every aspect of this project will be created through volunteerism. That means, just like the scene itself, this project will be the sum of a multitude of creative minds and ideas. It is quite an honor to be intertwined with this blossoming culture, and [Beat]en will finally shed light into the minds and hearts of the painters of this canvas.

They’ve set up a Kickstarter page, and if you’d like to be a part of the love, please donate whatever you can. They have set up some pretty wicked packages if you pledge, depending on the amount. As part of that package, I’m going to be developing an exclusive shirt design, available to contributors of $50 or more, . As with most things in this game, you’ll get back way more than what you put in. Come be a part of the magic, we can’t do it without you!

//EXPLODED DRAWING XII

Aside from the College Station set, every Exploded Drawing event has been at Baby Blue Studios in Austin. On March 3rd, the movement spreads south to my own stomping grounds, in San Marcos, TX. Also home to Exploded Drawing alum Kinder and Chief and the Doomsday Device, The whole ED collective will be in attendance as well, Party and Bullshit 2012 style. Oh, and I’ll have a handful of Gilded Alliance posters up for grabs!! It’s all happening at Triple Crown. After party on the roof of every building in the city. (is he joking?)

// ELITE HACKING TECHNIQUES

Bill Cosby and I got super drunk and hacked into Lo Phi’s Bandcamp page this weekend. Thank god for his super internet capabilities, there’s no way I would have been able to bypass the security mainframe or defrag the .bat registry hashtag macro-servers without setting all of the postscript .gif command center on fire. Check out our wreckage, and keep posted. Very big news coming later this week, you should totally make this the homepage on your girlfriend’s iPad 2, like chuh!

//EXCUSE ME SIR, YOU DROPPED YOUR CURREN$Y

Curren$y just dropped a new tape… I picked it up and ran after him but it was too late, he already turned back into a stealth jet and ripped a hole in the universe. HERE, I thought maybe you can find some use for it? Oh and that art is not by GGG, but it is still damn nice to look at.

// GILDED ALLIANCE VOL. 1 – LO PHI

2011 was very good to me. In return, I want to give an enormous thank you to every single person that has found a place in your heart for my various visual treasures, I was planning on releasing this a little ways in the future, but you deserve this now. I formally present to you, dear Internet, the first volume of Gilded Alliance, starring the impossibly talented Lo Phi. Please enjoy this set, I guarantee you have not heard another like it.

So this wasn’t going to be released for another few days, as I am still completing the finishing touches on it, but I’ve created an EXTREMELY LIMITED edition art print to go with this podcast. I’ll have pre-order information up as soon as possible. I can’t tell you how excited I am to get this project rolling, and to show you what GGG has in store for 2012.

I love you all. Enjoy!!

//LTD. EDITION GUILTY SIMPSON 7″ FROM (iNSECT) & FATBEATS

Do you smell that? The stink of brilliance permeates through the computer screen. Let it engulf your nostril cavities, and swirl up into your brain tissue. Nod your head rhythmically to ensure full absorption. Serve with ice to humans struggling with restless leg syndrome at room temperature.

Production by Ernest Gonzales and NickNack, with a HEAVY BoomBaptist take on Close Curtains. If you cop the digital, the binary blessings of additonal remixes from soundfounder and KONE shall bless your computation device of preference. Red Vinyl. Only 300 were pressed. I’m so happy I just spilled Bacardi and Mr. Pibb on my laptop.

//CLIMACK – AN EXPLODED DRAWING SELECTOR’S SERIES

At this point, we’ve hosted 10 Exploded Drawing parties, but it always feels like an eternity between each one. As fate would have it, we’ve developed a new showcase at The North Door called Climack, where each week residents Ntropy and Soundfounder will host a different local artist to help paint a different audio canvas across your face. Nick Nack is the special guest this Thursday, but the event will be even more particularly special, as we will also be celebrating Soundfounder’s birthday. Come out and raise your fists gently.

Not to be confused with the other Exploded Drawing events, Climack is more of a laid back evening of DJ sets from the performers, giving you a wide breadth of musical styles to absorb and groove to. Every Thursday. Except next thursday, that’s Thanksgiving, and thanks to you guys, we’ve got plenty to be thankful for.
